| Health
walks FitSteps offers guided
walks along safe town, park and country routes.
The walksare led by trained volunteers, equipped
with mobile phones and
first aid packs. The weekly walks vary in
distance between one and three
miles and are suitablefor all abilities.
Afterward, you can finish with a cup
of tea and a chat. It will giveyou a chance to
relax, unwind and meet new
people while getting healthier.
Starter walks
These weekly walks
are intended for those FitSteps members who, for
various reasons, are only able to participate in
walks of up to 1.0 mile,
on flat footpaths and pavements. The walks are
led by a small team of
dedicated, WHI trained volunteers, whose aim is
to help our members
improve their fitness and move up to the next
level of health walks.
Tiptree
Heath walks
These weekly walks, preceded by a short warm up,
may be divided in up
to 4 parts, ranging from 0.5 mile to 3.0 miles in
length and are suitable
for a variety of fitness levels. They follow an
established route around the
Heath, concluding with refreshments at a local
hostelry, a short drive away.
Summer
evening walks
These
weekly walks are intended for walkers who have
attained an
improved level of fitness and can now manage more
challenging country
routes, at a slightly faster pace. The walks, led
by a WHI trained volunteer,
vary between 2.5 and 3.5 miles and may have a car
sharing element.
Please note that these walks are not
covered by the FitSteps Public
Liability Insurance and that you will be walking
entirely at your own
risk. Suitable footwear and waterproof
clothing are recommended.
Longer
country walks
These monthly walks
are intended for walkers who have attained an
improved level of fitness and can now manage more
challenging country
routes, at a slightly faster pace. The walks, led
by a WHI trained volunteer,
vary between 4.0 and 6.0 miles and may have a car
sharing element.
Please note that these walks are not
covered by the FitSteps Public
Liability Insurance and that you will be walking
entirely at your own
risk. Suitable footwear and waterproof
clothing are recommended.
Historical
tours
FitSteps, in
partnership with the Maldon District Tourist
Information Centre
(TIC), is now offering these occasional guided
walks with a historical theme,
led bythe local author and lecturer, Stephen
P.Nunn. The walks, usually on
Sundays, are ideally suited for group bookings
with a small charge of £2
per person being payable at the time of booking.
