Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974
Spent convictions should not be included unless you are applying for a position
where a conviction can never become 'spent' - i.e. Chartered Accountant,
Certified Accountant, Solicitor, any employment involved with providing young
people with accommodation, care, leisure and recreational facilities, supervision
or training (including working on premises where such a provision is made) any
employment concerned with providing elderly, sick or disabled people with
health and social services.

Ideal candidate?


If you can spare a
minimumof 3 hours per
month to participate in
3 short (1-3 miles) walks
on a regular basis, we
will train you as a
Volunteer Walk Leader to
WHI (Walking for Health
Initiative) standard with
an optional Basic Life
Support (CPR) and First
Aid Course.

The training will enable
you to promote and lead
guided walks with groups
of up to 20 people in your
locality and elsewhere,
with full Public Indemnity
Insurance cover (subject
to cinditions).

As a Fitsteps Walk Leader
you will receive help with
administration and all the
necessary equipment to
lead our walks during
the year. This will include
walk maps, manuals,
suitable clothing, pre-paid
mobile phone (optional),
free health checks and a
generous mileage
allowance (when away
from base).

What do I do
now?


Having submitted your
application form
you should now also complete the Outdoor Health Questionnaire on the membership page. Please allow about 4-6
weeks for us to process
the information and arrange Walk Leader
/First Aid Training Sessions.

We currently require
VWLs in the following
areas:

Southminster
South Woodham Ferrers
Tillingham
